History

The history of Crans-Montana as a tourist destination begins at the end of the 19th century when it was discovered as a sunny and healthy place for the treatment of lung diseases. The first hotel was built in 1893, and soon after, the resort became a popular holiday destination for the European aristocracy. In the 20th century, Crans-Montana developed as a ski resort, hosting the Alpine Ski World Championships in 1987. Today, the resort is known for its perfect combination of sport, nature, and luxury.
