History
Davos has a rich history dating back to the 12th century. In the 19th century, the town became a famous climatic resort for the treatment of lung diseases, thanks to the clean mountain air. Many famous personalities, including writer Thomas Mann, spent time here. His novel "The Magic Mountain" was inspired by his stay in Davos. In the 20th century, the town developed as a ski resort and became the host of numerous international sporting events. Since 1971, Davos has been the host of the World Economic Forum, which has made it known worldwide as a meeting place for world leaders.
Economy
The economy of Davos is based on tourism, but the town is also an important conference center. The World Economic Forum attracts thousands of business leaders and politicians every year. In addition, Davos is a medical center with several specialized clinics and research institutes. The town is also known for its educational institutions.
Culture and Traditions
Davos combines traditional Graubünden culture with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The town has a rich cultural scene with museums, galleries, and cultural events. The Kirchner Museum is dedicated to the expressionist artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, who lived and worked in Davos. Every year, the Spengler Cup is also held – one of the most prestigious ice hockey tournaments in Europe. The cuisine is typical of Graubünden with an emphasis on local products.
Ski Schools and Children's Programs
Davos offers excellent opportunities for ski and snowboard instruction. The Swiss Ski School Davos has highly qualified instructors who speak multiple languages. For children, there are special programs and kids' clubs in the different ski areas. Bobo's Kids Club on Jakobshorn is especially popular with families. There are also specialized programs for competitive skiing and freestyle.

Best time to visit: For skiing – from November to April. For hiking and mountain biking – from June to October.
Transport in the resort: Free buses connect the different parts of the town and the ski areas. There is also a train connection to Klosters.
Food and drinks: Try Capuns (traditional Graubünden dish), Bündnerfleisch (dried meat), and local cheeses.
Clothing: Wear sunscreen even in winter – the sun is strong at this altitude.
Language: The official language is German, but English is spoken in the tourism sector.
