1. Zytglogge (Clock Tower)
Description: Zytglogge is the symbol of Bern and one of the most famous landmarks in Switzerland. This medieval clock tower, built in 1218-1220, served as the western gate of the city until 1270. The astronomical clock, installed in 1530 by Kaspar Brunner, is a true masterpiece of Renaissance mechanics.
Every hour, 4 minutes before the exact time, the clock comes alive with a mechanical show: a golden rooster crows three times, a procession of bears moves in a circle, and the jester Hans von Thann strikes the bell. The astronomical dial shows not only the hour but also the day of the week, month, zodiac sign, moon phase, and position of the sun.

2. Bern's Old Town (UNESCO)
Description: Bern's Old Town is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List thanks to its exceptional preservation of medieval urban structure. The city is built on a peninsula surrounded by the Aare River, giving it a unique shape and natural protection.
The central streets Kramgasse and Gerechtigkeitsgasse are lined with arcades (Lauben) - covered shopping streets extending 6 kilometers and offering hundreds of shops, cafes, and restaurants. 3. Bern Cathedral (Berner Münster)

4. Bear Park (BärenPark)
Description: The bear has been Bern's symbol since the city's founding in 1191, and the name "Bern" derives from the German word for bear. The Bear Park, opened in 2009, is a modern facility of 6,000 sq.m. located on the slope towards the Aare River, where bears live in a natural environment with forests, caves, pools, and access to the river.
The park typically houses 2-3 brown bears that you can observe from multiple viewing points. The park is free and open 24/7. The information center offers interactive exhibits about bears and their role in Bern's history.

6. Parliament Building (Bundeshaus)

The most popular swimming route is from Marzili (city beach with pools) to Eichholz, about 1.5 km downstream. The water is cold (14-18°C) and the current is strong, so swimming is recommended only for experienced swimmers. Special waterproof bags (Wickelfisch) are used to store clothes.
Alternatively, you can simply walk along the picturesque banks or relax at Marzili with a view of the cathedral.

Drinking Fountains - All public fountains in Bern have drinking water (unless marked otherwise). Carry a bottle and refill for free.
Zibelemärit - The traditional Onion Festival is held on the fourth Monday of November from 4:00 AM. Over 50 tons of onions are sold in braids.
Swimming in Aare - If you decide to swim, use Wickelfisch (waterproof bag) for clothes and follow the current. Never swim alone.
