Interlaken to Lucerne, Mount Pilatus & Lake Cruise – From Lakeside Grace to Alpine Glory

Your English-speaking driver will pick you up from your hotel in Interlaken and begin the journey toward Central Switzerland, following one of the most scenic alpine routes in the country.

The first stop comes shortly after crossing the Brünig Pass — at Lake Lungern. This is a short but perfectly timed photo stop. From the panoramic viewpoint above the village, you’ll see the lake’s striking turquoise water framed by steep green hills and traditional Swiss chalets. It’s a quick opportunity to step out, take photos and enjoy the fresh alpine air before continuing the journey.

From Lungern, the road continues directly toward one of Switzerland’s most iconic peaks — Mount Pilatus.

Upon arrival at the base station, your ascent begins. Depending on the season, you’ll either take the famous cogwheel railway — the steepest in the world — or the panoramic cable car system rising above forests and cliffs. As you climb higher, the views open dramatically over lakes and mountain ranges.

At the summit, Pilatus Kulm (2,132 m), you’re met with a breathtaking 360° panorama. On clear days, more than 70 peaks are visible. You’ll have time to walk along the viewing terraces, take photos and enjoy the atmosphere at the top of one of Switzerland’s most legendary mountains.

After descending from Pilatus, the experience continues into the cultural heart of the region — Lucerne.

In the Old Town, you’ll walk through narrow cobbled streets surrounded by colorful historic buildings. Cross the famous Chapel Bridge, admire the Water Tower and visit the Lion Monument, one of the most moving landmarks in Switzerland. You’ll also have free time to explore, shop, or enjoy a relaxed lunch by the river.

The next part of the journey slows everything down — a panoramic boat cruise on Lake Lucerne.

As you glide across the calm water, the surrounding mountains reflect like a mirror. You’ll pass elegant lakeside villas, small villages and iconic peaks such as Pilatus and Rigi rising above the shoreline. This is the most relaxing part of the day — perfect for photos, a drink on board and simply enjoying the Swiss landscape from a different perspective.

After the cruise, your driver will meet you again for the return journey to Interlaken.

The drive back follows the same panoramic route, now in the softer light of the afternoon or early evening. Passing again near Lungern and Lake Brienz, the scenery takes on warmer tones, closing the day with a calm and complete alpine experience.
