Interlaken to Zurich & Rhine Falls – City Sophistication Meets Natural Power

Your English-speaking driver will pick you up at your hotel in Interlaken in the morning. The journey begins with a scenic drive through the Bernese Oberland, crossing the Brünig Pass and passing along the shores of Lake Lucerne. After approximately two hours, you’ll arrive at your first destination — one of Switzerland’s most powerful natural landmarks.

Your first stop is the spectacular Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall. Stretching 150 meters wide and dropping 23 meters, the falls are an immense display of natural force. During summer, more than 600,000 liters of water per second cascade over the rocks, creating a constant roar and rising mist that you can feel on your skin.

You’ll have free time to explore the walking paths and viewing platforms. The most impressive viewpoint sits directly above the main cascade, offering a close-up perspective of the rushing water. From here, you can also admire Schloss Laufen, a historic castle dramatically positioned above the falls.

For those looking for something more adventurous, there is an optional boat ride that takes you close to the falls or even to the famous central rock — a short but intense experience (available from April to October).

After your visit to the Rhine Falls, the journey continues south toward Zurich — Switzerland’s largest city and financial center. The landscape gradually shifts from vineyards and river valleys to a refined urban environment.

Upon arrival, you’ll begin your exploration in the historic Old Town (Altstadt), known for its narrow streets, colorful facades and centuries-old architecture. Visit the iconic Grossmünster, a Romanesque church with a tower you can climb for panoramic views over the city and Lake Zurich. Just across the river, the elegant Fraumünster is famous for its stained-glass windows created by Marc Chagall — a highlight of modern sacred art.

Continue toward Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world’s most exclusive shopping streets, lined with luxury boutiques, Swiss watchmakers, and renowned chocolate shops — perfect for a relaxed stroll or a short shopping break.

If time allows, your driver can also take you to the shores of Lake Zurich. The lakeside promenade offers a peaceful setting where locals unwind. In summer, you may choose to take an optional one-hour boat cruise for a different perspective of the city.

In the afternoon, your driver will meet you for the return journey to Interlaken. The route follows scenic Swiss countryside, passing near Winterthur and Lucerne, before re-entering the alpine landscapes of the Bernese Oberland.

By early evening, you’ll arrive back in Interlaken, surrounded once again by mountain peaks and lakes.
