Full Tour Description
Your private driver will collect you from your hotel in Lausanne, and soon you’ll leave behind the vineyards of Lavaux and the calm blue of Lake Geneva for a day surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and glaciers. The journey to the Bernese Oberland unfolds through green valleys, alpine lakes, and winding mountain roads that showcase Switzerland’s beauty in motion.
Your first destination, Interlaken, lies between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, a setting so perfect it feels painted. For more than two centuries, it has attracted poets, mountaineers, and explorers searching for the essence of the Alps. You’ll stroll through Höhematte Park, where the view toward the Jungfrau is one of the country’s most famous. The turquoise Aare River flows through the town, linking both lakes and creating serene walking paths lined with flowers and terraces.
From Interlaken, you can ride the Harder Kulm funicular — a short but spectacular 10-minute ascent to a panoramic viewpoint at 1,322 meters. From the viewing platform, you’ll see both lakes shimmering beneath you and the white pyramid of the Jungfrau beyond. The Harder Kulm Panorama Restaurant offers one of Switzerland’s most striking dining terraces, perfect for photos or a short coffee break before descending.
Next, travel deeper into the mountains toward Lauterbrunnen, known as the Valley of 72 Waterfalls. This glacial valley inspired Tolkien’s depiction of Rivendell and continues to amaze travelers with its vertical cliffs and cascading water. The Staubbach Falls, dropping almost 300 meters beside the village church, are visible from every corner. If you wish, visit the Trümmelbach Falls, a series of waterfalls hidden inside the mountain — an extraordinary natural spectacle powered by glacial melt from the Jungfrau region. Those seeking even higher views can take a quick cable car up to Mürren, a peaceful car-free village suspended above the valley.
The final alpine stop is Grindelwald, one of Switzerland’s most picturesque villages. Surrounded by glaciers and meadows, it feels timeless — wooden chalets, cowbells, and peaks that pierce the sky. You can explore the Glacier Gorge (Gletscherschlucht), a walkway through roaring glacial tunnels, or ascend via cable car to Grindelwald First for panoramic views. Lunch here is a delight — fresh mountain air, local cuisine, and the kind of silence only the high Alps can offer.
As the afternoon fades, your driver will take you on a scenic return to Lausanne, tracing valleys, lakes, and alpine roads. The descent from the mountains brings you back to the calm shores of Lake Geneva, closing the day with a feeling of awe and serenity — a perfect balance between nature’s grandeur and peaceful reflection.
