Full Tour Description

Your driver will pick you up in Lugano, and soon the road curves south through the Monte Ceneri Pass, descending toward the Italian border. As you cross into Italy, the landscape shifts — Swiss precision gives way to Italian warmth, olive trees, and pastel-colored houses cascading down the hills.

The first stop is Como, a town that perfectly embodies the elegance of Lago di Como. The town’s heart is Piazza Cavour, opening directly onto the lakeshore, where cafés spill onto the promenade and ferries glide across the calm water. Stroll through narrow cobbled streets to the Duomo di Como, completed over several centuries, its ornate façade blending Gothic detail with Renaissance grace. If time allows, you can ride the funicular to Brunate, a small hilltop village offering sweeping views of the lake and Alps — a must for photographers.

After exploring Como, the journey continues through the Lombardy plains to Milan, about one hour away. On arrival, your driver will take you directly to Piazza del Duomo, where Italy’s largest cathedral rises like a marble forest of spires and statues. You can climb (or take the lift) to the rooftop terraces for an unforgettable panorama of the city and, on clear days, the Alps in the distance.

Next to the cathedral lies the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, built in 1877 and often called “the living room of Milan.” Under its glass dome, you’ll find elegant cafés, luxury brands like Prada and Louis Vuitton, and the sound of clinking espresso cups echoing off the marble floor.

From there, stroll toward La Scala Opera House, one of the world’s great stages, or continue to Castello Sforzesco, a fortress once home to Milan’s ruling family. Inside, its courtyards now host museums and art collections, while outside, the Parco Sempione park offers shade and calm just minutes from the city center.

If time permits, finish your visit with a leisurely walk or drink in the Brera district, known for its artistic spirit and refined cafés. Alternatively, your driver can take you to the Navigli canals, where locals gather for aperitivo — the Milanese ritual of pre-dinner drinks and snacks as the sun sets.

In the late afternoon, relax on the drive back to Lugano, retracing the route through rolling vineyards and alpine foothills. As you cross the border again, Switzerland’s lakes and calm scenery welcome you home — the perfect close to a day that spans two cultures and worlds.
