Full Tour Description
Your private day begins in Weggis, nestled on the shores of Lake Lucerne, where serenity meets scenery. Your driver will take you through central Switzerland, past Lucerne and over the Brünig Pass, a road surrounded by forests, rivers, and emerald lakes — the gateway to the Bernese Alps.
Arriving in Grindelwald, you’ll immediately sense the grandeur of the Alps. The air is crisp, cowbells echo across the meadows, and above it all rises the mighty Eiger, its north face shining with ice and rock. You’ll have time to explore the village, capture photos, and breathe in the mountain atmosphere before beginning the climb to the Top of Europe.
At Grindelwald Terminal, the adventure begins with the futuristic Eiger Express gondola. As you ascend, the landscape unfolds below — alpine meadows, glaciers, and the winding valley of Grindelwald. From Eigergletscher Station, you’ll board the Jungfrau Railway, a Swiss engineering masterpiece dating back to 1912, which travels through tunnels carved inside the mountain itself.
At the summit, Jungfraujoch (3,454 m) greets you with an otherworldly landscape of eternal snow and ice. Step into the Sphinx Observatory for one of the most panoramic viewpoints in Europe — a 360° vista over the Aletsch Glacier, stretching more than 22 km into the distance. Inside, explore the Ice Palace, where frozen sculptures and tunnels shimmer under blue light, or walk outside onto the Snow Plateau, where snow crunches underfoot even in summer. Enjoy lunch or a warm drink at one of the alpine restaurants before descending back to Grindelwald.
The return journey to Weggis offers time to relax as the mountain peaks give way to rolling hills and lakes once again. By evening, you’ll be back by the tranquil waters of Lake Lucerne, having reached — quite literally — the top of Europe.
