Detailed Information about chaplins-world

History and Significance

Manoir de Ban is the estate where Charlie Chaplin spent the last 25 years of his life (1952-1977). After being persecuted by McCarthyism in the USA, Chaplin moved to Switzerland with his wife Oona O'Neill (daughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill) and their eight children. Here he found peace, happiness and inspiration. Chaplin died on Christmas Day 1977 at Manoir de Ban.

In April 2016, almost 40 years after his death, the estate was transformed into Chaplin's World – the first and only museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin. The museum was created by Grévin Museum (the famous French wax museum) and offers a unique emotional and cultural experience.
