    Full Tour Description

Your journey begins in Montreux, where your private driver picks you up from your hotel. The route follows the scenic Swiss Riviera, passing the Château de Chillon and the terraced vineyards of Lavaux — a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its breathtaking views and 800-year winemaking tradition.

Leaving the lakeside, the road climbs through Aigle and into the Bernese Oberland, where every turn reveals new contrasts: vineyards fading into alpine forests, and waterfalls glinting from distant cliffs. After roughly 2.5 hours, you’ll reach Grindelwald, a mountain village framed by the mighty Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks.

Known since the 19th century as “the Glacier Village,” Grindelwald became a hub for early alpinists. Even today, its surrounding peaks remain icons of mountaineering history. The Eiger North Face, in particular, is legendary — a 1,800-meter wall of rock and ice that has both challenged and fascinated climbers for over 90 years. Take a few moments to stroll through the village, admire the chalets, or enjoy a cup of coffee on a terrace overlooking the alpine meadows.

Then the true ascent begins. From Grindelwald Terminal, board the Eiger Express cable car, one of the most modern in Europe, which glides over glaciers and cliffs to reach Eigergletscher Station in just 15 minutes. Here, you’ll transfer to the historic Jungfrau Railway, built between 1896 and 1912 under the direction of Swiss engineer Adolf Guyer-Zeller. The train climbs 1,400 vertical meters through tunnels cut inside solid rock — an astonishing feat of engineering for its time — before emerging at Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe.

At the summit (3,454 m), the world opens up in silence and light. Step out into a realm of eternal snow, where the Aletsch Glacier, the largest in the Alps, stretches endlessly into the horizon. The Sphinx Observatory, perched like a watchtower above the glacier, offers panoramic views across Switzerland and even into France, Germany, and Italy on clear days.

Inside the Ice Palace, a labyrinth of crystal tunnels and sculptures carved from ancient ice, every corridor glows with blue light. You can also visit the Alpine Sensation, an underground exhibition honoring the railway workers who risked their lives to build this masterpiece over a century ago. For a touch of sweetness at the top, the Lindt Swiss Chocolate Heaven boutique awaits — the world’s highest chocolate shop.

After exploring this frozen wonderland, the descent retraces your route via Eigergletscher and Grindelwald Terminal, where your driver will be waiting. On the drive back to Montreux, the alpine world gives way once again to green valleys, vineyards, and finally the deep blue of Lake Geneva — a reminder of Switzerland’s endless diversity in just one day’s journey.
