Full Tour Description

Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel in Montreux, where the journey begins along the sparkling Lake Geneva Riviera. As the vineyards of Lavaux fade in the rearview mirror, the road climbs gently into the heart of Switzerland, crossing rolling hills and serene valleys.

After approximately 1.5 hours, you’ll arrive in Bern, a city that feels both grand and intimate. Founded in 1191, Bern’s Old Town is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, built on a sandstone ridge surrounded by the turquoise loop of the Aare River. The Zytglogge, a 15th-century astronomical clock, still marks the hours with animated figures — a symbol of Bern’s timeless rhythm. Nearby stands the Federal Palace, where Swiss democracy quietly governs the nation.

Take time to explore the Bern Cathedral, the tallest church in Switzerland, with panoramic views from its 100-meter tower. History and intellect meet at the Einstein House Museum, where the scientist’s early years in Bern are preserved in the apartment he once called home. Strolling through the arcades, you’ll find charming cafés, bookstores, and chocolate shops that make Bern one of Europe’s most walkable and livable capitals.

After discovering Bern’s historic heart, your journey continues to Thun, the gateway to the Bernese Oberland. As you approach, the scenery changes — the flat plateau gives way to lakes and mountains. Thun’s medieval center, built along the Aare River, is known for its unique split-level streets lined with wooden arcades and riverside cafés.

Climb up to Thun Castle, a perfectly preserved fortress with views stretching over Lake Thun and the distant Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. Below, the river flows through the city, its clear alpine water reflecting the pastel façades of centuries-old houses. If time allows, the tour continues a short distance along the lake to Schloss Oberhofen, where the elegant castle seems to float directly on the turquoise surface of Lake Thun — a perfect spot for photos.

The return drive to Montreux offers a peaceful close to the day, tracing Switzerland’s rural heartlands and scenic mountain valleys back to the lakeside Riviera. By evening, you’ll arrive once again at Lake Geneva, carrying memories of the capital’s timeless charm and the tranquil beauty of the Bernese lakes.
