Detailed Information about lindt-home-of-chocolate

History and Significance

Lindt Home of Chocolate opened in 2020 in Kilchberg on the shores of Lake Zurich, on the site of the old Lindt & Sprüngli factory. The museum was designed by renowned Swiss architects Christ & Gantenbein and represents a modern architectural masterpiece that rises like a golden chocolate box on the lakeshore.

Lindt & Sprüngli is one of the most famous Swiss chocolate brands in the world, founded in 1845 by David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann in Zurich. In 1879, Rodolphe Lindt invented the conching process, which makes chocolate smooth and melting in the mouth. In 1899, Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann bought Rodolphe Lindt's factory in Bern and merged the two brands into Lindt & Sprüngli.

Today, Lindt Home of Chocolate is Switzerland's largest chocolate museum and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The museum offers an interactive journey through the history of chocolate, from the origin of cocoa to modern production.
