Geography and Dimensions
Lake Lugano is a glacial lake with a complex, branched shape. It is located between Lake Como and Lake Maggiore. Most of the lake (63%) is in the Swiss canton of Ticino, and the rest (37%) is in the Italian region of Lombardy. The Melide causeway divides it into a northern and a southern basin.

What to See and Do
1. Monte San Salvatore
Called the "Sugarloaf" of Lugano, this peak offers the best 360-degree panorama of the lake, the city, and the Alps. The summit is reached in 12 minutes by funicular from the Paradiso district. At the top, there is a small museum, a panoramic terrace, and a restaurant.

2. Village of Morcote
