Full Tour Description

Morning Departure from Bern – Into the Bernese Alps

Your English-speaking driver will collect you directly from your hotel in Bern. As you leave the city behind, the road heads south through rolling fields and gentle valleys that slowly give way to rugged alpine scenery.

After about an hour, you’ll reach Blausee, one of Switzerland’s smallest yet most mesmerizing natural wonders. Hidden deep in the forest, the lake glows in surreal shades of turquoise and blue, fed by underground springs from the nearby glaciers.

Enjoy a leisurely walk along the lakeside path, cross the small wooden bridge, and stop at the café by the water for a coffee or quick snack. The air is cool and pure, and the reflections of the trees in the water look almost painted — it’s a quiet moment before the grandeur of the high Alps that awaits.

Midday Drive – Into the Heart of the Valais Alps

From Blausee, your journey continues deeper into Switzerland’s mountain region. As the car winds through the Valais Valley, you’ll pass terraced vineyards, stone villages, and views of snowy peaks that stretch endlessly into the sky. After around two and a half hours of scenic travel, you’ll arrive in Täsch, the final stop accessible by car before Zermatt.

From here, your tour includes the round-trip train ticket for the short 5-minute ride to Zermatt, a car-free resort famous for its serenity and the unmistakable silhouette of the Matterhorn.

Zermatt Experience – Gornergrat Railway, Matterhorn Views & Alpine Charm (Approx. 4 hours)

Welcome to Zermatt, a place where time slows down and nature takes over. Here, cars are replaced by electric carts, and the air carries the scent of pine and mountain wind.

A few steps from the main station begins one of Switzerland’s greatest alpine experiences — the Gornergrat Railway. This legendary red train climbs gently through forests, bridges, and glacier fields, revealing a panorama that grows more astonishing with every turn. In about 30 minutes, you’ll reach the Gornergrat Summit (3,089 m) — the perfect viewpoint over the Alps.

From here, the Matterhorn stands directly before you — silent, sharp, and magnificent. Spend around one hour exploring the plateau, walking along the viewing terraces, and taking photos that capture the essence of Switzerland.

Relax with a coffee or lunch at the 3100 Kulmhotel, Europe’s highest hotel, whose terrace offers an unrivaled panoramic view of 29 peaks above 4,000 meters.

When ready, take the return ride down to Zermatt, watching the glaciers and meadows roll past your window as the village slowly reappears below.

Back in Zermatt, take a leisurely walk along Bahnhofstrasse, the heart of the village. Boutiques offer Swiss watches and handmade souvenirs, while cafés serve perfect espresso and chocolate pastries. Stop at Café Petit Royal or Lindt Chocolateria for dessert, or visit the Kirchbrücke Bridge for a final photo — the best spot to capture the Matterhorn reflected in the river.

It’s the ideal ending to your alpine afternoon — a quiet, elegant moment framed by Switzerland’s most iconic mountain.

Afternoon Return to Bern – The Journey Home

Take the short train back from Zermatt to Täsch, where your driver will be waiting to greet you. The road home winds through alpine valleys painted in gold and green, with waterfalls glimmering in the distance.

As the sun lowers behind the peaks, the drive feels peaceful and timeless — a reflection of the day itself: from the still waters of Blausee to the majestic heights of Gornergrat. It’s a journey that captures Switzerland in its purest form.
