Full Tour Description

Your private driver will collect you from your hotel in Montreux, and the adventure begins along the legendary Swiss Riviera, where palm trees line the lakefront and the vineyards of Lavaux climb the hillsides in perfect terraces — a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its wines since the 12th century. The road soon leaves the lakeshore, passing through Aigle, home to the medieval Château d’Aigle and its renowned Wine Museum. As the route rises toward the Vaud Alps, the scenery transforms: vineyards give way to pine forests, waterfalls, and stone villages that feel frozen in time.

Your first major stop is Col du Pillon (1,546 m), the gateway to the alpine world of Glacier 3000. The cable car here is one of Switzerland’s most impressive — opened in 1999, it covers more than three kilometers of distance and climbs over 1,000 meters in elevation in just 15 minutes. The view from the cabin is spectacular: the Diablerets Massif beneath you, and the peaks of Mont Blanc, Eiger, and Matterhorn appearing one by one on the horizon.

At the top, the Glacier 3000 summit station designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta welcomes you into a world of ice and light. From here, step onto the Peak Walk by Tissot — the world’s first suspension bridge connecting two mountain peaks. The bridge is 107 meters long and 80 centimeters wide, hanging at 3,000 meters above sea level. The view is so vast that on a clear day, visitors can see 24 of the 48 Swiss peaks over 4,000 meters high.

You’ll have time to explore the glacier plateau, where snow lies year-round. In summer, the Alpine Coaster, the world’s highest toboggan run, offers a thrilling ride with 520° loops and speeds up to 40 km/h. In winter, the area becomes part of the Glacier 3000 Ski Resort, offering slopes that remain open from October to May — a true rarity in the Alps. Visitors can also step inside the Ice Cathedral, a naturally formed cave of shimmering blue ice, or take a short guided walk on the glacier trail.

Lunch is available at the Botta Restaurant, named after its architect, whose glass façade reveals a 360° panorama stretching from Mont Blanc in France to the Matterhorn in Valais. It’s one of Switzerland’s highest fine-dining experiences, combining haute cuisine and high altitude.

After descending back to Col du Pillon, your driver takes you through the lush Saanenland valley, following the course of the Saane River toward Gstaad. This journey through alpine meadows and forests is as peaceful as it is beautiful — wooden barns dot the fields, and cows graze beneath mountains that have appeared in countless postcards.

Upon arrival in Gstaad, you enter one of Switzerland’s most exclusive yet understated resorts. Known for its motto “Come up, slow down,” Gstaad has long attracted royals and celebrities — from Grace Kelly to Madonna — who come here for privacy rather than publicity. The village center, or Gstaad Promenade, is lined with elegant boutiques, five-star hotels like the Gstaad Palace, and chalet-style cafés serving local cheese and chocolate specialities.

You can stroll through the pedestrian area, explore the traditional wooden architecture, or visit nearby Saanen, a 1,000-year-old village that showcases the original Bernese alpine style. Gstaad also hosts one of the world’s top cultural festivals, the Menuhin Festival, founded by violinist Yehudi Menuhin in 1957, which still draws global artists each summer.

As you leave the valley, the mountains slowly open again, and the familiar blue of Lake Geneva reappears on the horizon. By late afternoon, you return to Montreux, where palm trees and Belle Époque hotels replace the alpine peaks — a perfect circle of Switzerland’s contrasts, from snowfields to sunshine in a single day.
